Ca Village Festival

Every year, many villages in Buoi region, Tay Ho district, Ha Noi respectively organize festivals from the 10th to the 20th of the 4th lunar month in memory of dead heroes, man of merit or the founders of handicraft making village who establish the lives for people.

Ca village (Yen Thai) is a traditional one of paper-production with the founders to be Mr and Mrs Vu Phuc. They are worshipped not in the communal house instead, in a private church and venerated to be a patron saint.

Ca village's communal house - a typical beautiful one of Vietnamese old communal house -is the place where the worship takes place. Its ground is large and well - aired with the high three -  entrance  gate  of architectural  style  combining Buddhism    style    and   Hinduism    style.    In   the worship,  the  first  notable  in  the  vill age  is  the officiating priest. The costume worn in the festival is  regulated   obviously.   Acolytes,   assistants   and high   -   positioned   persons   in   the   village   wear brocade dresses, white trousers and boat like shoes, so   they   look   both   simple   and   solemn.   Other dignitaries unite to wear black muslin dresses and win around crepe kerchieves their heads. Offerings for male god are steamed glutinous rice and beef, for female god are cooked glutinous rice and hen. For the founder of paper - production, people here worship him with "che kho" soft green lentil cake a famous dish of Buoi region made by long - year confident entertainers.

The procession is begun from Cau Sau hamlet passing through Giua and Cong hamlets.towards the main rood and returned to the central square. The procession is of drums, gongs, and tens of multi -  coloured flags, gonfalons, feather fan, two big red lacquer trimmed with gold sedan chairs, eights old weapons held by eight old men, two vases of well -water...  Visitors  are  very  crowded.  Many  young men dress variegated clothes while girls wear long dresses with their pleasant and vital power over flowed faces. The elders hold eight precious weapons with grey - hair making them vigorous and impressive. Ortagan guild plays continuously. More attentive is "tuong - cheo - singing guilds". All actors and actresses with made up their faces suitable for the roles follow the procession haughtily Clavns make children fussily followed by boys who disguise into girls, carrying drums, moving on weakly, talking female - like and sneaking loving looks at each other. They make everybody laugh their heads off. Along with the procession, several national games such as cook fighting, birdfighting, lion dancing, swinging... also take place during ten days of the festival.

Ca village's festival of Buoi region is regarded to be one of multi cultural coloured festivals in over country.
